Advocating for Mental Health, Substance Use Recovery, and Community Resilience in Maine:

About Us

At Common Ground Friends, we envision a Maine where every individual has access to compassionate mental health and substance use support. We strive to amplify voices, foster recovery, and drive systemic change through collaboration and innovation.

Who we are

Common Ground Friends is a Maine-based nonprofit committed to transforming the way our communities respond to mental health, substance use, and systemic injustice.

We are clinicians, advocates, artists, and individuals in long-term recovery — united by a shared belief that healing is a human right. Our work blends trauma-informed outpatient services, grassroots advocacy, and documentary storytelling to challenge stigma and drive systemic change.

From the frontlines of crisis care to the halls of policy reform, we build bridges — not silos — by partnering with organizations across the state to expand access, elevate lived experience, and amplify solutions that work.

At our core, we’re about connection. Because healing happens when people are seen, heard, and supported without condition.
